Cathy Forbes is running for the Michigan Senate to give back to the community and bring open and honest representation to Lansing. Cathy is in her second term as an elected Oceana County Road Commissioner. In that role, Cathy has relished in the opportunity to serve the people of Oceana County, and looks forward to expanding her public service as a member of the Michigan Senate.
Married for 20 years to Joe Klimovitz, Cathy and her husband have been small business owners in the television industry for over sixteen years. Prior to this, Cathy was in the television syndication business in New York City for Television Program Enterprises and in Chicago with Tribune Entertainment. She was also producer and host of a Chicago talk show for young people called, “Kid Talk,” and a freelance producer for NBC News and the local CBS television station in Chicago, WBBM. After chasing her dreams in one big city after another, Cathy and Joe decided return to the place she calls home – Hesperia, Michigan.
Having not had the opportunity to attend a traditional college or university after high school, Cathy believes that education is essential to Michigan’s prosperity. She will work to ensure that every student in the state of Michigan has access to a quality education, from preschool all the way through college. A proud mother, Cathy has instilled the importance of a quality education in her two daughters – one is a sophomore at the University of Michigan and the other is a junior at Hesperia High School.
