Joan Brausch – Candidate 98th House District
Joan has been married to Dave Brausch for 43 years. They are the proud parents of two children and have four grandchildren. Their daughter and son-in-law are both Navy veterans.
While a stay-at-home mom, Joan became involved in many volunteer activities at church and in the community. At age 31, she returned to college, commuting to Detroit with the support of her family, to earn a Bachelor, and then a Master’s degree.
From 1989 to 2006, she worked in two leadership positions in her home parish. In these positions, Joan used her talents to teach, to preach, and to organize events both large and small.
She has served her local community as a member of the Local Officers Compensation Board, 2006-2011, and as a graduate of Midland Citizens Academy, 2013. Joan has been involved politically over the years, working in a number of presidential, gubernatorial and local campaigns. She has been an active member of the Midland County Democrats for over 30 years.
Joan ran for State Representative for the 98th State House District in 2012. In November 2012, she received 41.1% of the vote: against an incumbent. Joan is running again in 2014 because she wants to be a voice for all the people of the 98th District. She worked and raised a family in Michigan. She understands the struggles people face every day. She wants everyone to have a chance to succeed in life – to have a good job, excellent education and economic security in their old age.
