Mary Kerwin owns her own business and is known statewide for her work in Leadership Development. She is a member of Michigan Association of School Boards’ Effective Partnerships Program and works as an instructor and facilitator.
Mary served two terms on the Troy Board of Education and held all offices on the board. She has been active on the local, county, state and national board associations and has received NSBA’s Outstanding Board Member Award and MASB’s President’s Award, the highest awards given by these associations.
Mary is an alumna of MSU’s Michigan Political Leadership Program. She received her BA in English, and her Teaching Certificate from Immaculate Heart College in California.
A former English teacher, she coordinates CBA offerings and teaches at U/M-Dearborn’s Institute for Local Government.
A Master Citizen Planner, she has served on the Troy Planning Commission and Troy City Council, and is a candidate for the State House of Representatives. She is the recipient of three awards from the Michigan Municipal League in recognition of her Education, Leadership, and Governance and has served as President of MML’s Elected Officials Academy.
Mary is an active volunteer and was selected Troy’s Distinguished Citizen in 2012. She has served as President of the Women Officials Network and is currently President of the WON Foundation. She was named Diversity Champion in 2014.
