Tanya Cabala, Candidate for State House, District 91
Tanya Cabala is a lifelong resident of the 91st district in Muskegon County. She has served as a teacher, freelance writer and columnist, community activist, director of a regional nonprofit environmental organization, business owner, and Great Lakes protection advocate. Tanya recently completed three terms as a city council member, where she served on the planning commission, the fire and solid waste authorities, and led the city’s 150th anniversary celebration efforts. She was a key leader of a local group that cleaned up White Lake, which was successfully delisted as a “toxic hotspot” in 2014, an effort recognized as a success throughout the entire Great Lakes region. Her lifelong work has garnered her considerable recognition and numerous awards, but she is not done. She believes her nearly 30 years of experience working with local, state and federal government will help her get good things done in Lansing. Tanya helped to restore White Lake and wants to be part of the solution to Restore Michigan – to restore good paying jobs, support for public education, affordable healthcare, and support for protecting the Great Lakes. She believes all Michigan citizens deserve an equal opportunity to prosper and enjoy the excellent quality of life our state can offer.
