Lori Carpentier
A lifelong advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights, she began her career with Planned Parenthood as a medical assistant in 1985. During her tenure, Carpentier also worked as Director of Education, Director of Patient Services and Vice President of Medical Affairs before being named CEO in 2005.
Carpentier has led Planned Parenthood of Michigan through five mergers since 1999 to become one statewide affiliate on May 1, 2016, with 20 health centers, a patient census of nearly 65,000, and serving another 17,000 with educational programming.
As President and CEO of PPAM, Carpentier is an advocate for access to quality reproductive health care, and represents the public policy interests of Planned Parenthood patients and supporters across the state. She is recognized in Michigan as a leading expert on women’s reproductive health care and has testified by invitation before Congress and the Michigan State Legislature.
At the national level, Carpentier has served on numerous task forces and work groups for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Since becoming CEO, she served first as a member and now Chair of 416 Holdings, Inc. the parent company for Afaxys Pharmaceuticals, and is the liaison between Planned Parenthood’s Affiliate Chief Executives Council and the Medical Directors Council. Carpentier also currently serves on the national Planned Parenthood Action Fund Board of Directors as an affiliate CEO representative.
Carpentier earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Michigan State University in 1984, with a concentration in Adolescent Sexuality.
